Variety Officer for Bristol & West of England

As an Equity member and cabaret performer, I’m passionate about tackling the current challenges of falling fees while maintaining the quality of our work and sustaining living costs.

As a neurodivergent entertainer i’m well-placed to use my skills and experience to improve accessibility, represent fellow performers, and champion grassroots variety entertainers.

I’m passionate about serving on the Bristol & West of England committee and since taking up my position I have developed the following, 

Variety Voices Green Room
An online gathering for variety performers who live, work or gig across the South West. This is a chance for fellow artists to connect, share experiences, exchange knowledge, discuss the realities of performing, and support one another in a friendly and supportive community.

Pay The Act Motion 
I called upon Council to develop a “Pay the Act Campaign” as a positive and necessary step forward for the industry, focused on the clear principle: that performers must be paid fairly by event producers, charities, fundraisers and promoters

Neurodivergent Network Motion
I called upon Council to establish an Equity Neurodivergent Network for members who identify as neurodivergent, including but not limited to autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, dyspraxic and otherwise neurodivergent performers and creatives. A dedicated Neurodivergent Network would provide a platform for representation, peer support and industry engagement, recognising the growing number of performers and creatives receiving neurodivergent diagnoses later in life and seeking to better understand and navigate their working lives.
